چکیده

Developing the concept of Digital Business Ecosystem (DBE) and implementing it at local level through regional engagement implies integrating many areas of interest, including Business, Computing, Science and Socio-Economics (see Heistracher, Kurz, Marcon and Masuch, 2006). Consequently, this presents an important challenge in terms of communication and collaboration, in which different research agenda, different vocabularies and languages need to be compared, to converge or be translated. The concept of Digital Business Ecosystem becomes in fact part of different conceptual frameworks, which need to be constantly interlinked and efficiently connected.

Self-Organising Mechanisms from Social and Business/Economics Approaches

This paper discusses examples of socially inspired self-organisation approaches and their use to build socially-aware, self-organising computing systems. The paper presents different mechanisms originating from existing social systems, such as stigmergy from social insects behaviours, epidemic spreading, gossiping, trust and reputation inspired by human social behaviours, as well as other appro...

Self-organisation of an 802.11 Mesh Network

The self-organisation of telecommunications networks has to confront the two challenges of the scalability and the stability of the solution. This paper describes a distributed, co-operative multiagent system in which agents make decisions based only on local knowledge — that guarantees scalability. Extensive simulations indicate that stability is ensured by the agent’s making improvements to t...

Self-Organisation in the Nervous System

The objective of the project is to examine recent progress in two major areas of research – computer science and neuroscience, and their related fields – and to understand whether progress in understanding cognition in living systems has new insights to offer those researching the construction of artificial cognitive systems.Contents 1 Introduction 3 1.1 Self-organisation in the nervous system ...

Socionic Multi-Agent Systems Based on Reflexive Petri Nets and Theories of Social Self-Organisation

This contribution summarises the core results of the transdisciplinary ASKO project, part of the German DFG's programme Sozionik, which combines sociologists' and computer scientists' skills in order to create improved theories and models of artificial societies. Our research group has (a) formulated a social theory, which is able to explain fundamental mechanisms of self-organisation in both n...

Milieu and Function: Toward a Multilayer Framework for Understanding Social Networks

Social interactions between individuals do not occur in a void. Nor do they take place on a pre-existing fixed social network. Real social behaviour can be understood both to take place on, and to bring about, a complex set of overlapping topologies best described by a multilayer network in which different layers indicate different modes of interaction. Here we distinguish between the milieu wi...

Self-organisation in Wireless Sensor Networks for Assisted Living

This paper introduces a framework for designing self-organising wireless sensor networks for assisted living. The topology of these networks is studied and definition of self-organisation is given. Here, we propose paradigms and explain “local” and “global” network properties. In conclusion, the self-organised network function for the wireless health-care networks is designed. Simulation result...
